Privacy Policy
Effective date: 25 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Loamy: Plant Water Tracker app (the “App”) processes personal data. The data controller is Lime SRL Semplificata (“we”, “us”), reachable at nicola.eusebi@gmail.com.
In short: the App has no account, no ads and no tracking. Your plants, rooms, photos, notes and watering history stay on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage, which we cannot access. Two optional features send something out, only when you use them: plant identification (the photo or name you choose) and local weather for outdoor plants (your approximate location, sent to Apple).
1) Data We Collect
A. Your plants (not collected by us)
- Plant names, rooms, photos, notes, watering and check history, reminder settings.
- They are stored on your device. If iCloud is on, Apple syncs them through your private iCloud database (CloudKit). We have no access to this data and do not receive it.
- An automatic backup copy is kept on your device (the last 7 days) so your plants can be restored if needed.
B. Usage and diagnostics
- In-app events (for example “plant added”, “watering round completed”, “paywall shown”) with a random identifier created by the App, the device model, iOS version, app version, country or region setting, and whether you use the free or Pro version.
- Crash and performance diagnostics provided by Apple’s MetricKit, in aggregated form.
- These events never contain your plant names, photos or notes.
C. Purchases
Purchases are handled by Apple In-App Purchase. We receive transaction details (product, dates, transaction identifiers, price and currency, storefront country) linked to the App’s random identifier, so we can count subscriptions and one-time purchases. We never receive your payment card details or Apple Account.
D. Apple Search Ads attribution
If you installed the App after tapping an Apple Search Ads ad, Apple’s AdServices framework tells us which campaign and keyword it came from. This is campaign-level information: it does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across other apps or websites.
E. Support messages
If you write to us from the App (“Contact the developer” or “Share an idea”), we receive the name and message you type, together with the App’s random identifier, app version, device model and language, so we can answer you.
F. Plant identification and care tips
- When you tap “Identify from photo” or “Search by name”, the App sends the photo you chose (reduced to a small size) or the name you typed to our server, together with the App’s random identifier, which we use only to limit the number of requests.
- Our server forwards the photo or name, without the identifier, to OpenAI, which recognises the plant and writes its care tips. The answer is saved with your plant on your device.
- We do not store the photo or the name: our server keeps only technical records (type of request, duration, size and cost), without the identifier. Under its API terms, OpenAI does not use this data to train its models and may keep it for up to 30 days only to detect abuse, then deletes it.
G. Weather for outdoor plants (Loamy Pro)
- If you have outdoor plants and allow location access, the App reads your approximate location, rounds it to about one kilometre and sends it to Apple WeatherKit to get the local forecast. Your location is never sent to us.
- The forecast is kept on your device for at most 24 hours; the rounded location stays on your device for the next update. You can turn location access off at any time in iOS Settings: outdoor plants then follow their usual schedule.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, health data, microphone recordings or advertising identifier. The camera and photo library are used only when you add a plant photo or ask the App to identify a plant; plant photos stay with your plants, and identification photos are handled as described in F.
2) Purposes and Lawful Bases
- Providing the App (reminders, history, backups, sync) — contract.
- Plant identification and local weather (features you ask for; weather only with your location permission) — contract.
- Purchases and eligibility (Pro, restore purchases) — contract.
- Support (answering your messages) — contract / legitimate interests.
- Product analytics and quality (anonymous events, diagnostics, campaign attribution) — legitimate interests, in a form that does not identify you.
- Legal compliance and security — legal obligation / legitimate interests.
3) Notifications
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. Their content (the names of your plants) is not sent to us. You can turn them off at any time in the App or in iOS Settings.
4) Sharing
We use our own server to receive the usage events, purchase records, support messages and identification requests described above, hosted on Amazon Web Services in the European Union. Identification photos and names are processed by OpenAI on our behalf; this may involve a transfer outside the European Union, with the safeguards required by law. Your approximate location goes directly from your device to Apple (WeatherKit), under Apple’s privacy policy. We do not sell personal data and do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if required by law.
5) Retention
- Your plants: on your device and in your iCloud until you delete them or the App.
- Identification photos and names: not stored by us; at OpenAI for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring.
- Weather forecast: on your device for up to 24 hours.
- Usage events and diagnostics: up to 24 months, then deleted or aggregated.
- Purchase records: as long as required for accounting and tax purposes.
- Support conversations: until the request is closed and for up to 24 months after.
6) Your Rights (EEA/UK and similar)
You may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your data, and to data portability. You can also export all your plants from the App at any time (Settings › Your data › Export). To exercise your rights, write to nicola.eusebi@gmail.com; the App’s random identifier (shown on request) helps us find the related records. You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
7) Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
8) Security
Data sent to us travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9) Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. The new version will be posted here with a new effective date; material changes may also be notified in the App.
