Frequent questions
Why does Loamy say “check” instead of “water”?
Light, pot and season change how fast soil dries, so a fixed calendar either overwaters or forgets. Loamy estimates when the soil is probably dry and asks you to check. Dry an inch down: tap Watered. Still damp: tap Still wet, pick when to look again, and Loamy learns the plant’s real rhythm.
I watered yesterday but forgot to log it
Touch and hold the drop (or the Watered button) and choose Watered yesterday, 2 days ago or a date. You can also fix any entry from the plant’s history.
Are my plants safe if I change phone or turn iCloud off?
Your plants sync through your own private iCloud. Loamy also keeps a daily backup on your iPhone (the last 7 days) and can export everything as CSV or JSON at any time (Settings › Your data). If plants ever go missing, the app offers to put them back. Plants are never deleted because of the free limit.
What is free and what is Pro?
Free keeps up to 5 plants with reminders, watering round, widgets, history, backups and export, plus 5 photo identifications; searching a plant by name is always free. Loamy Pro unlocks unlimited plants, unlimited photo identification, weather for outdoor plants and alternative app icons, and includes every future Pro feature. It is a one-time purchase (Lifetime) or a yearly subscription with a 7-day free trial.
How does plant identification work?
When you add a plant, tap “Identify from photo” or “Search by name”. Loamy shows the most likely species and, once you pick one, saves its care tips with the plant. The photo is used only to recognise the plant and is not kept. The tips are a starting point: your “Watered” and “Still wet” answers tune the schedule.
How does the weather work for outdoor plants?
Set a plant to “Outdoors” and say whether it gets rain. With Loamy Pro and your permission, Loamy uses your approximate location to get the local forecast: rain moves the next check later, a hot day brings it forward, and you get a frost alert when a plant should come inside. Without location access, outdoor plants simply follow their usual schedule.
Restore a purchase
Plants › Settings › Restore purchases, or the Restore link at the bottom of the Pro screen.
Cancel the yearly subscription
iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Loamy. Your plants stay in the app whatever you choose.
Coming from another app?
